Arsenal were in Europa League action in the second leg of the semi-final against Valencia CF.

Valencia started well and scored early through Gameiro to further increase the decibel levels at Mestalla. Arsenal responded positively and it wasn’t long before they drew level. Alexandre Lacazette flicked the ball on for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to volley home from 20 yards. It was a first half in which both sides showed their threat on the break and each had chances. Lacazette hit the outside of the post after a flowing move near the end of the half but the game remained in the balance at half-time.

The second half began in great fashion for the Gunners with a brilliant turn and strike from Lacazette in the 50th minute to get the second away goal. Just ten minutes later, Valencia scored again through Kevin Gameiro but Arsenal struck back soon after, thanks to good work from Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who slid the ball across to Aubameyang for a simple finish. Aubameyang got his hattrick right at the end of the game to round off an excellent performance from the whole team and take Arsenal through to the final in Baku.

Arsenal must now turn their attention to the final Premier League match of the season, against Burnley.
