Arsenal faced AFC Bournemouth in the midweek Premier League fixture at Emirates Stadium.

It was an opportunity for Unai Emery’s team to continue their good home form in the league and keep up with the pack in the race for the top four. And straight from the off it was clear that Arsenal were switched on and highly motivated. Within the opening five minutes Arsenal were in the lead. Sead Kolasinac showed good anticipation and then set Mesut Ozil in on goal; his signature finish, in off the turf, was superb. Bournemouth reacted well to going behind and created some good openings, but Henrikh Mkhitaryan doubled the lead just before the half hour mark after winning possession and collecting a return ball from Ozil. Mousset pulled one back almost immediately, so the Gunners went in at half-time with a 2-1 lead.

The second half saw Arsenal regain their two goal lead almost immediately through Laurent Koscielny after the defender finished off great work from Mkhitaryan. Ozil struck the post after excellent play from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and the Gabon international got himself on the score sheet for the 19th time this season on the hour mark. Alex Lacazette added the final goal with a curling free kick to make the final score 5-1. A very satisfying night for the team. Arsenal now set their focus on Saturday’s north London derby.
